About Us

Calusa Musicale is organized to aid and advance musical education and the allied arts, to encourage high musical standards, and to promote American musicians, American music and service through music. Calusa Musicale is a member organization of the National Federation of Music Clubs and the Florida Federation of Music Clubs. Our organization serves the entire Southwest Florida community including Fort Myers, Cape Coral, Lehigh Acres, Bonita Springs and Naples.

Calusa Musicale meets the second Monday of each month, October through April. In May, the annual Cavalcade of Youth is presented, a program featuring our Junior Club students and scholarship winners. In addition to the business of running such a worthy organization, the club presents an inspiring program of music and enrichment at each meeting. Membership is open to anyone who is involved in music - teaching, performing, serving - or to those who simply enjoy and want to support the arts in our community.

Organized as a music club in 1977, Calusa Musicale began its scholarship work in 1980 when it donated $100.00 for a music scholarship, working with the Edison Community College Endowment Corporation. In 1982 Calusa Musicale was on its own and annual scholarship awards have grown over the last 26 years. Calusa Musicale awards scholarships to high school and middle school students in piano, strings, voice and winds. Since its inception, Calusa Musicale has awarded scholarships amounting to over $35,000.00 to local deserving and talented musicians. Calusa Musicale has endowed the Eleanor Morgan Scholarship at Edison College, Fort Myers. Named in honor of one of our founding members, this scholarship endeavor is awarded annually to a deserving and talented music student at the college.

As part of the National Federation of Music Clubs and the Florida Federation of Music Clubs, Calusa Musicale also proudly sponsors the annual Junior Festival in February. Junior Festival allows students to perform before a panel of judges for a rating and comments. Graded categories in piano, organ, voice, strings, winds, brass, percussion and theory are offered. Any student who receives a superior rating at the local Junior Festival is eligible to compete at the State Junior Convention, where first place prizes are awarded. We have been blessed to have had a great number of first place state winners from Calusa Musicale.

Calusa Musicale is registered by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. Calusa Musicale does not retain professional solicitors and 100% of all contributions are retained by Calusa Musicale.
