April 2, 2010 Dear Fellow Members and Friends, On Monday, March 8th our very own Robert Withey shared his knowledge, thoughts, and experiences as he explained his affiliation with “Friends of the Opera”. In addition, Julia Bryant shared one of her special students with us as the Studio Spotlight featured a Harpist! Thank you so much to Robert and Julia for an interesting program. Elections were held during the meeting. Martha Cox was voted unanimously for Secretary as well as Rick Lange for Second Vice President. Their term will be for two years. Congratulations and thank you for your service! The Annual Benefit Concert is approaching fast. This event is our only fundraiser of the year. It is my honor and privilege to announce that Kat Epple and Chuck Grinnell will be performing at this year's concert! Kat is an amazing local flutist that has won a couple of Emmy Awards and nominated for several Grammys! Chuck is a very creative pianist that has performed all over the world. In addition we will have last years scholarship winners. This promises to be the best concert yet! When this letter goes to print, it will be to late to be added to our program. Please feel free to ask your friends and business associates to attend this event. We will have a good will offering which will allow you to donate. Remember..........all donations to Calusa Musicale are tax deductible! The date of our event is Sunday, April 18th at 3 pm. This year's benefit concert will be held at First Presbyterian Church in downtown Ft. Myers. The church is located at 2438 Second St. Next month, on Sunday, May 16 at 3 pm, Calusa Musicale proudly presents the Cavalcade Of Youth Concert. This concert will feature this years scholarship winners. It will also be held at First Presbyterian Church in downtown Ft. Myers. Please invite all you friends and associates to both of these fantastic events! Annual Membership renewals are due! The Calusa Musicale Executive Board has voted to raise annual membership dues. To put it simply, we need money! That's the bad news. The good news is the new annual dues have gone up only $5.00. So.........an annual membership in Calusa Musicale is now $30. Here's the best news! We would like to offer you an opportunity to renew at the old price. If you renew by May 15, 2010, your annual dues will be $25! After that dues will be $30, and don't forget that additional $5.00 late fee after May 31, 2010! Our Monday, April 12th meeting is our annual Crusade for Strings! It will be brought to us by our own Rachel Cox. She is currently with the Naples Philharmonic and the Southwest Florida Symphony. Rachel has performed and taught for many years. Originally from Dayton, Ohio, she currently resides in Cape Coral. Come and enjoy our last meeting of the year, dedicated to the beautiful music of the string family. We ask everyone to start gathering at 10:00am. for fellowship and refreshments. The meeting will kick off at 10:30 am. Please bring a guest musician or music lover with you as new members are always welcome. The meeting is at the Edison Congregational Church, 1619 Llewellyn Dr. in Fort Myers.
